In 1963, an American man named Herbert A. Gilbert had come up with the invention of "a smokeless non-tobacco cigarette" to replace the traditional cigarette with moist, flavored air and in 2003 a pharmacist from China named Hon Lik had come up with a “modern e cigarette” which hit the western markets between the years of 2006-2007.
Although the modern vaporizer have not been around for generations, the idea behind it would be to replace smoking to vaping.
